The Center For Specialized Services is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization that empowers people with disabilities lead full and productive lives. Founded in 1986, the Center has been providing rehabilitative and support services in our community for over 35 years. The Center offers 17 programs individualized to meet the needs of participants. These programs include medical therapies, counseling, vocational and employment services, two adult day programs and two social enterprises. Each year, the Center helps more than 750 people in the St. Louis metropolitan area.
All of the Center’s programs are accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities), an independent, international, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services providers. Accreditation ensures the highest industry standards possible, providing risk reduction and accountability. In 2017, the Center earned a three-year accreditation for our programs (a three-year accreditation is the highest level of accreditation that can be given to an organization). The Center has received this highest level of accreditation every three years since 1999 and the Center is one of only five CARF accredited providers in the state of Missouri that serves adults with autism.
In 2018, the Center was selected as a TORCH Award Winner by the St. Louis Better Business Bureau®. The BBB TORCH Awards recognize companies and charities that are committed to exceptional standards for ethical business practices and service to their customers, employees, suppliers and communities. Additionally, the Center meets the Better Business Bureau‘s Standards for Charity Accountability. The standards seek to encourage fair and honest solicitation practices, to promote ethical conduct by charitable organizations and to advance support of philanthropy. Meeting all 20 standards set by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance means that you can trust the Center’s business practices and feel confident in your decisions to give to our organization.
